The Penn State Alumni Association

What’s been happening:

I spent three wonderful years at Penn State before transferring to Point Park University, where I buckled down and got a BA degree in Journalism. While working for the defunct Homestead Messenger, I got an offer to work as a reporter for a "great metropolitan newspaper," The Johnstown Tribune-Democrat. I stayed here for two years, becoming the bureau manager of the Indiana, Pa., bureau. From there, I went into public relations in Cleveland, Ohio, then went to a small daily in Salem, Ohio. I got out of newspapers and into sales, selling life insurance for both John Hancock and Metropolitan Life. From there, I went into food service, learning first the hamburger business, then the chicken business, from which I retired after 28 years. To keep my self busy, I went to work for the state of Texas, as a corrections officer, at the largest (by population) prison in the state. It's interesting and my inquisitive nature keeps me alert for sergeants and those of higher rank who are continually looking for what is going on. About a third of my way in food service,I met and married a wonderful Dallas, Texas, native, Debra, who attended El Centro College in Dallas. We have twin girls, both grown, just barely, and still unmarried. Michelle, the elder, is working with Dad at the prison, while Jessica is finishing up her degree at Trinity Valley College. Deb keeps busy working for Walmart.
